Complementary constraints from FR IIb radio galaxies and X-ray gas mass fractions in clusters on non-standard cosmological models

چکیده
We use recent measurements of the dimensionless coordinate distances from Fanaroff-Riley Type IIb radio galaxies and the X-ray gas mass fractions in clusters to constrain the parameters of a non-standard cosmological model. This work complements our recent analysis of the SN Ia data within a non-Riemannian cosmological model. We use two independent data sets to constrain the new density parameter Ωψ, which is related to the non-Riemannian structure of the underlying spacetime and supplements the field equations that are very similar to the usual Friedmann equations of general relativity. Thereby we place an upper limit on the presence of non-Riemannian quantities in the late stages of the universe. The numerical results of this work also apply to several anisotropic cosmological models which, on the level of the field equations, exhibit a similar scaling behavior of the density parameters like our non-Riemannian model. Generalized Chaplygin gas as a unified scenario of dark matter/energy: observational constraints
Although various cosmological observations congruously suggest that our universe is dominated by two dark components, the cold dark matter without pressure and the dark energy with negative pressure, the nature and origin of these components is yet unknow. The generalized Chaplygin gas (gCg), parametrized by an equation of state, p = −A/ραgCg, was recently proposed to be a candidate of the unif...
متن کاملStellar Populations in the Central Galaxies of Fossil Groups
It is inferred from the symmetrical and luminous X-ray emission of fossil groups that they are mature, relaxed galaxy systems. Cosmological simulations and observations focusing on their dark halo and inter-galactic medium properties confirm their early formation. Recent photometric observations suggest that, unlike the majority of non-fossil brightest group galaxies (BGGs), the central early-t...
متن کاملSupernova Ia and Galaxy Cluster Gas Mass Fraction Constraints on Dark Energy
We use the Riess et al. (2004) supernova Ia apparent magnitude versus redshift data and the Allen et al. (2004) galaxy cluster gas mass fraction versus redshift data to constrain dark energy models. These data provide complementary constraints that when combined together significantly restrict model parameters and favor slowly-evolving dark energy density models, close to the Einstein cosmologi...
متن کاملDistant clusters of galaxies: X-ray properties and their relations
We investigate the evolution of clusters of galaxies in a sample of distant clusters with redshifts between 0.3 and 1.0. We show the abilities and limitations of combined ROSAT and ASCA data to draw cosmological conclusions. For the first time bolometric luminosities, masses, gas masses, gas mass fractions, and iron masses are derived in such a distant sample in a consistent way. We compare the...
متن کاملProbing the Evolution of Gas Mass Fraction with Sunyaev-zel’dovich Effect
Study of the primary anisotropies of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) can be used to determine the cosmological parameters to a very high precision. The power spectrum of the secondary CMB anisotropies due to the thermal Sunyaev-Zel’dovich Effect (SZE) by clusters of galaxies, can then be studied, to constrain more cluster specific properties (like gas mass). We show the SZE power spectrum...
